For Fun is an online mode that will appear in Super Smash Bros. 4. In this mode, players will fight each other in four-player free-for-alls, with all items turned on. All stages will be playable except for Final Destination; stages will be chosen at random with no player choice. Only wins from matches will be recorded in this mode. Both Free-For-All and Team Battle modes are available. For Glory acts as a counterpart of For Fun in that it allows for only one-on-one matches and restricts all items, as well as allowing only Final Destination and variants as usable stages.
However, in video games, No Fun is allowed. This mode will be removed from the final version. Sakurai has stated his reasoning for the decision: "When I created Super Smash Bros. Melee, it got great reception from the competitive gaming community. Super Smash Bros. Brawl did not get this approval. So I have decided to remove For Fun mode so that all players can experience No Items, Final Destination mode in my game. This will likely boost reviews, sales, and criticism. I have also removed Meta Knight from the final version."
